Latrunculi native americanThe rules to this ancient Roman game are unknown. The rules used in the Peg Pastimes version were devised by Wladyslaw Kowalski, ca. 2006. Each player has a set of 5 pegs of a given color, and one of a similar color which is called the "dux." When a player immobilizes the enemy's dux, they win the game, even if some of the surrounding pegs the dux's own men. Pegs are moved any unblocked distance orthogonally, like a chess rook, and a peg is captured
but the basic game is still commercially published today
