Panorama 2:1 - NZSI04a rapidsViews for miles and mountains galore everywhere you look in glacier country. The South Island of New Zealand is the larger of the two islands by surface area but is less populated. The waters around the island are the Cook Strait, Tasman sea and the Pacific Ocean Running along the Island from North to South are the Southern Alps, home to Fox and Franz Josef glaciers and its highest peak Mount Cook.

In between Canal Rocks and Smiths beach you will find a spot the locals call "The Aquarium"

life is coming back and the undergrowth is starting to regenerate itself and I'm sure it won't be long before we see the forest in all its glory once more

Wellington Dam is the largest dam in the Southwest of the state and was built to supply the Collie River irrigation district

A perfect combination of waterfall and cascade in a beautiful location
