The lid of the box depicts Palais Du Trocadero, Paris at the Exposition Universelle, 1878. The depiction boasts inlaid mother of pearl throughout the palace and water fountains and is set under thick bevelled glass. This box was likely a souvenir from the event. A charming late Victorian terrestrial globe travel inkwell

with beautiful cut glass detail throughout

hand painted in oils with a hinged stand to the rear

but otherwise also remains in an excellent condition

and there is also some marking in places (please see photographs)
