This Day of the Dead skull was carved out of copal wood which is sustainably sourced in the surrounding fields of the town of San Martin Tilcajete. The carving is so well done and even has a jaw that can move up and down. The painting was very finely done with Zapotec patterns which have a great presence in Oaxacan art and culture.
